BREAKING: Bandits Release 27 Kaduna Forestry College Students
The 27 students abducted by bandits from Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, have been released, Daily Trust reports.
One of the persons who received the students said the release was facilitated by the Sheikh Ahmad Gumi dialogue committee with support from former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The students were among the 37 abducted almost two months ago.
After payment of ransom by parents and school management, the bandits only released 10 of the victims.
Their abductors had initially demanded a N500 million ransom from the Kaduna State Government but Governor Nasir El-Rufai ruled out the option of negotiation, saying bandits deserve to be killed.

Mbaka Missing, Nigerian Government Has 48 Hours To Produce Him—Ohanaeze Youth Congress
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, on Wednesday raised the alarm over the whereabouts of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry.
The Catholic cleric recently criticised President Muhammadu Buhari and called for his impeachment over the growing insecurity in the country.
However, the President-General of Ohanaeze Youth Council has raised the alarm that the priest is missing.
The President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, in a statement seen by Daily Post on Wednesday said Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday and that efforts to locate him had failed.
“We have it on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.
“Calls put to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward happens to him.
“We are giving the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest, else they should be ready to face Igbo youths. They were dining and wining with him all along and now that he told the truth, they are no longer comfortable with him.
“Let nothing happen to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. It will not be in anybody’s interest,” the group said.
Emir of Katsina Illegally Marries Off Christian Teenager To Her Abductor
The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir, has illegally married off Aisha Mani, a Christian teenager, to her abductor, Mohammed Samaila, without her family's consent, Hausa Christian Foundation (HACFO) has alleged.
In a Facebook post, the foundation narrated how the Emir, in cahoots with the District Head of Kafur Local Government Area (LGA), Abdulrahman Rabe, conspired to perpetrate the unlawful act.
The report said Aisha Mani was married off to her abductor Mohammed Samaila by the monarch despite police efforts and a petition by a law firm.
Aisha's family was said to have relocated her from Gidan Dandada, Rafin Iyaka, to another relative in Funtua after they suspected romantic advances from Samaila.
However, the teenage girl was said to have gone missing from Funtua and after long hours of searching, the case was reported to the police.
"Two days later, on February 12, 2021, Aisha's parents received a call from the District Head of Kafur telling them to stop searching for Aisha because she is safe with him in his house. He claimed that one Idris Shehu brought her to his house," HACFO said.
Rabe was said to have disregarded her family's plea that she be returned and refused them access to see Aisha "on the ground that she wanted to convert to Islam."
The traditional ruler reportedly called Aisha's parents after ten days, stating that her abductor wanted to marry Aisha, but they refused, insisting that due process must be followed.
Subsequently, Rabe "went ahead to arrange a marriage between Aisha and Mohammed Samaila without the consent and approval of Aisha's Family."
"The Area Commander told the District Head not to go ahead with their marriage plans between Aisha and Mohammed Samaila, but the district head ignored it," the NGO said in its report, adding that the agreement was that Aisha be brought to the police station, one which the District Head ignored.
HACFO said the girl was instead taken to the Emir of Katsina the same day the district head was supposed to take her to the police station, adding that "on reaching there, the Emir of Katsina joined Aisha and Mohammed in marriage without the consent of her parents."
The group highlights that the incident was not the first time the predominantly Muslim community would be oppressing native Christian Hausas, forcefully abducting their daughters for marriage without parental or family consent.
According to the NGO, a total of nine girls have been abducted and forced into marriage. One of such ladies was said to have been returned after she ran mad, another returned dead, while another was returned to her parents with pregnancy.
Names of other abductees, according to the NGO, are Jamima Solomon, Christiana Mamman, Deborah Habila, Phoebe Dankano, Rifkatu Markus, Saratu Isah (Returned her when she went mad after two years), Dije Yakubu Nalami (Abducted as a married woman, and returned when she died), Rebeccah Ado (Returned Pregnant) and Aisha Mani (Currently in captivity).
The foundation alleged that crimes against Christians "are always swept under the carpet" in Rafin Iyaka Sabuwar Kasa, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina.
It noted that despite a petition filed by lawyers to Aisha's parents to the police through the Malumfashi Area Command, demanding the arrest, investigation and prosecution of Rabe and Samaila, the police had done nothing to secure the release of Aisha.
HACFO claimed that Kabir and Rabe, on several occasions, abuse human rights and "do everything possible to stop the constitutionally recognised law enforcement agencies like the police from rightly carrying out their statutory duties."
The NGO claimed that Mr Rabe had been involved in supporting similar acts right from the time of his father, who died years ago and "is also backed by the Emir of Katsina."
When contacted on the telephone by Peoples Gazette, the state's police spokesperson, Gambo Isa, claimed he was not aware of the incident.
"I'm not aware of the matter; I don't know because it was reported by an NGO if it is something reported by a tabloid…, but I cannot confirm the NGO's report," Mr Isa said.
Efforts to reach the HACFO proved abortive.
Ibrahim Bindawa, the spokesman to the Emir of Katsina, promised to get back to The Gazette when reached for comments on the matter Saturday morning.
"I am reciting the holy Quran, please. I will get back to you in the next one hour," he said.
Bindawa did not revert as promised, hours later.
Yoruba Groups Clash Over Creation Of Oduduwa Republic
Two Yoruba groups on Saturday clashed over the demand for the creation of Oduduwa Republic from the present Nigerian state.
While some leaders under the banner of the Ilana Omoodua Youth Initiatives, led by a Yoruba leader, Professor Banji Akintoye, insisted on having Oduduwa Republic for the Yoruba nation, another group under the auspice of Yoruba Welfare Group (YWG), disagreed with the position.
The secretary of the Ilana Omooduwa Youth Initiatives, Dr. Akin Adejumo, who represented Professor Banji Akintoye at a Yoruba mega rally held at Mapo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, yesterday, insisted that the breakup of Nigeria was imminent.
Adejumo said the nation was not working and there was a need for Nigerians to go back to the drawing board and make a profitable decision for their people.
But the National President of Yoruba Welfare group (YWG), Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, on Saturday insisted that those clamouring for Oodua Republic cannot decide for the Yoruba people.
Speaking with Daily Post in Lagos, the group blasted the secession advocates, accusing them of attempting to destroy the peace, love and harmony of Yoruba land.
Alawuje warned them to desist from such advocacy, saying, “We are issuing a last warning to those behind the political agitation to stop all this rubbish in our land. Yoruba land cannot be a testing ground for any form of criminal act.
“YWG is calling all traditional rulers in Yoruba land to call these people to order, because it will not favour all of us to start mobilising against ourselves in the same region.”

We’re Losing Millions Of Dollars To Sell Cement In Nigeria—Dangote
Dangote Group says its cement is cheaper in Nigeria than in Ghana and that it is losing dollar earnings focusing on the Nigerian market.
“To ensure that we meet local demands, we had to suspend exports from our recently inaugurated export terminals, thereby foregoing dollar earnings,” he said, adding that the company also reactivated its 4.5 million ton capacity Gboko plant.
“While a bag of cement sells for an equivalent of $5.1, including VAT in Nigeria, it sells for $7.2 in Ghana and $5.95 in Zambia ex-factory, inclusive of all taxes,” it claimed in a statement amid claims the price of Dangote’s cement is higher in Nigeria than elsewhere.
Dangote Cement noted that the price of a bag of cement from its factories and plants in Obajana and Gboko was N2,450 and N2,510 at Ibese, including the Value Added Tax (VAT) as of April 12.
Devakumar Edwin, the company’s Group Executive Director in charge of Strategy, Portfolio Development, and Capital Projects, stated this in a statement in Lokoja on Tuesday.
According to him, the clarifications become necessary given the recent insinuations that the company sells cement in Nigeria at higher prices relative to its sales in other countries, particularly in Ghana and Zambia.
Though the company had direct control over its ex-factory prices, Edwin said it could not control the cement’s price in the open market.
“This is all in a bid to guarantee that we meet demands and keep the price of cement within control in the country. Over the past 15 months, our production costs have gone up significantly.
“About 50 per cent of our costs are linked to the USD (dollar), so the prices of critical components such as gas, gypsum, bags, and spare parts; have increased significantly due to the devaluation of the Naira and VAT increase.
“Despite this, Dangote Cement has not increased ex-factory prices since December 2019 to date while prices of most other building materials have gone up significantly,” he said.
UPDATE: Why Soldier Fighting Boko Haram Killed Himself In Borno—Colleague
A colleague of Akila Jimo, a soldier from 152 Battalion, Banki, Borno state who committed suicide on Saturday says the deceased was always complaining that he was not allowed to go on pass.
A pass is a written permission to be away from one’s military unit for a limited period of time.
A soldier told SaharaReporters that Jimo requested to go on pass to visit his family several times but was turned down on every occasion.
He was said to have suddenly cocked his rifle and shot himself in the head. The incident happened in Kumche.
“His name is Cpl Akila Jimo from 142 Battalion but attached to 212 Battalion in Maiduguri. He was always complaining that he was also not allowed to go on pass.
“He had already overstayed in the theatre of operation. He had started showing some signs of depression before he eventually took his life,” the source told SaharaReporters.
In March, a soldier, Bello Useni, with the Nigerian Army School of Armour in Bauchi killed himself.
In September 2020, a lance corporal attached to the Army’s 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Gari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state, committed suicide at his duty post.

JUST IN: Nigerian Government Denies Printing N60billion To Support March Allocation, Claims ‘Obaseki Lied’
The Nigerian government has denied it printed N60 billion to augument March allocation to states as alleged by Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning disclosed this on Wednesday.
Ahmed described the allegation by Obaseki as untrue and sad.
Obaseki had at the Edo transition committee stakeholders' engagement last week said that Nigeria was in huge financial trouble.
“When we got FAAC (Federal Account Allocation Committee) for March, the federal government printed additional N50-N60 billion to top-up for us to share,” he had said.
“This April, we will go to Abuja and share. By the end of this year, our total borrowings is going to be within N15-N16 trillion. Imagine a family that is just borrowing without any means to pay back and nobody is looking at that, everybody is looking at 2023, everybody is blaming Mr. President as if he is a magician.”
Ahmed said Nigeria’s debt is still within sustainable limit and efforts are on to improve revenue generation capacity.
“The issue that was raised by the Edo State Governor for me is very, very sad. Because it is not a fact.
“What we distribute at FAAC is revenue that is generated and in fact distribution revenue is public information. We publish revenue generated by FIRS, the customs and the NNPC and we distribute at FAAC.
“So, it is not true to say we printed money to distribute at FAAC, it is not true,” she said.

Insecurity: Ebonyi Cabinet Office Intensify prayers.
By Einstein Chukwu.
The Executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Pastor Ken. Nwabueze, on Wednesday, urged Christians to intensify their prayers for the peace and progress of the country.
Pastor Nwabueze made this call in a sermon while conducting mid-week prayer organized by the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner as part of the 7-Day prayer and fasting programme against the killings across Ebonyi State and the country declared by Ebonyi State Government.
In a homily, the Clergyman who dwelt on the message: “Fear Not", encouraged Christians not to be dismayed over the security challenges rocking Nigeria, stressing that God has the ability to deliver all of us from trouble no matter how impossible it may seem.
“God knows you by name. He knows your circumstance and everything about you. He has the answer and the ability to deliver you from every danger that could ever come or imagine.
He called on the Christians to continue to pray for God’s intervention and that things would get better for the country in all ramifications”, he charged.

*LOYALTY to LEADERSHIP INSIGHT:*
You can't be disloyal to God INSTITUTED leadership and loyal to the Holy Spirit••• No! No!! No!!! You can't.
*Do you still have boldness to stand before your leaders; expectialy those you have considered PAST OR PREVIOUS LEADERS?*
1 Sam 24:1-22, let's read verse 6 because of time.
David said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this to my master, the Lord's anointed, to put my hand out against him, when he is the anointed of the Lord.
Friends we are going to study the life of King Saul, the Senior pastor or G/O and David the Junior Pastor or Assistant Pastor. Let's learn few things from the passage above.
(1)King Saul: Saul loved David, how? It was Saul that gave David the opportunity to fight Goliath. Saul gave David the platform to showcase his gift. Saul gave him the opportunity to use his his talent. No one would have heard anything about David.
*David got into trouble the day women song _Saul killed 1,000 and David killed 10,000_.*
Junior pastors, be careful when the members of the church says you're more anointed than your Leader, some of us will be nobodies if not for the Leaders that God used for us. I have said this before and I am saying it again, 80% of problems between the G/O and the Junior pastors are caused by the church members and or spouse.
Reject the praises of the members against your Leaders. Junior pastors, don't use the microphone and the altar of your Leader against him. Don't let him regret that he gave you opportunity to minister to the church members.
(2)David: Who is this David? David had the opportunity to killed Saul his enemy, his men said unto him today God has deliver your enemy into your hands. David went down and cut the robe of Saul's garment.
No wonder God said he is "a man after my heat".
What kind of heart has David? When they discuss and gossip about your leader in your presence, what happens to your heart?
Do you contribute when they spoil and condemns your leader?
David said in PS 1:1-3, *_Blessed is the man that sitted not in the sit of the scornful,.._* It's time to cut off anyone speaking and spoiling your leader. Cut them off!
(3)Anointing: David did not fight Saul because of the Anointing, David said Saul is the Anointed of the the Lord.
PS 105-15 says *_Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm_*.
Many of us are touching the anointed by our mouth. Even when God has rejected Saul, David still respected him. Why are you disrespecting your leader? David called Saul "my father", even at the point of death.
Because of what happened between you and your leader, you have changed the name you used to call him. He is no longer your father... Hmmmm.
We shall come up with more•••√√√

Thanksgiving Mass and Grand Reception of Rev. Fr. Sampson C. Nwokpoku at St. Raphael Parish Catholic Church Okoffia Holds Amidst Joy.
By Einstein Chukwu
People give thanks to God for different reasons such as for the blessings they received, for excelling in a particular field, for good health, for saving them from dangers and many others.
To Rev. Fr. Sampson, the purpose of the celebration was to thank God for the gift of priesthood and religious life that he has received from God.
The confreres and the lay faithful including Ebonyi State Executive Council Members led by a representative of Deputy Governor, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Okechukwu Nwakpu, Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala Igwe, witnessed the ceremony.
Felicitating with the celebrant and the Church, Dr. Nwakpu commended the new priest for availing himself the opportunity to be used by God.
Deputy Chief of Staff, lamented that many are called to be faithful disciples but only few accept wholeheartedly the invitation and conditions for God’s call, affirming that his selection as a priest is God’s choice.
He called on the people to rather give him support and prayers instead of finding fault in him.
He said “On behalf of the Deputy Governor, I want to thank you for accepting the call to serve in God’s Vineyard. It is not an easy decision because so many persons are called but few are chosen. I am expecting your ministry to bring so many persons who have been carried away by the vicissitudes of life to join the priesthood. Today, history has repeated itself in the land of Okoffia, we assure you of our prayers and support in your priestly ministry”.
In a homily, Very Rev. Fr. Ikenna Nnaji, dwelt on the message: “Abiding in Christ", encouraged the newly ordained priest, Fr Sampson, to abide in Jesus. He noted that for one to be successful in the ministry one needed to be deeply rooted in Christ Jesus, avoid earthly consumerism and humanism, contrary to which means denying of Christ.
The Clergyman further urged the new priest and the church to hold unto Christ and deepen their faith in the Lord by laying outside every heavy weight and its entanglement and be grafted in God.
The grand reception was organised by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ugbala Kenneth Igwe in conjunction with the Honourable Commissioner for Infrastructure, Development and Concession, Engr. Nweze Fidelis Kings, in honour of the celebrant.
High point of the event was administration of mass, sacrament and Eucharist by Rev. Fr. Sampson Chukwuma Nwokpoku, the newly ordained priest.
The celebration re-ignited a unifying spirit among the people in the community.
This was shown in their participation in the programme. Many of them and all visitors took turns to present gifts to the newly ordained priest. Others took the opportunity to have pictures with him.
They were all refreshed before they departed to their homes.
