The vagina or birth canal is the opening through which menstrual fluid leaves a woman’s body and babies are born. It is connected to the cervix, which is the opening of the uterus or womb, and to the vulva, which are folds of skin around the vagina opening. Vagina cancer is a malignant tumor that forms in the tissues of the vagina. Primary tumors are most usually squamous cell carcinomas. Primary tumors are rare, and more usually vaginal cancer occurs as a secondary tumor. Vagina cancer is a rare type of cancer. Cancer of the vagina is considered to be associated with advanced age and occur in the sixth and seventh decades of life. Adenocarcinomas present in patients younger than 20 years of age and are seen less frequently with advanced age. It is more common in women over age 50 and 60 but can occur at any age, even in infancy. It often can be cured if found and treated in early stages. Surgery alone or surgery combined with pelvic radiation is typically used to treat vaginal cancer. Children can be diagnosed with advanced vaginal cancer. They are treated by surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Vagina cancer in children may recur.
Vagina cancer is a rare tumor which constitutes only 2 % of female genital tract cancers. Cancer of the vagina is rare and is only 2% of all gynecological cancers less than 0.5% of all cancers in women. Estimated new cases in the United States in 2017 are 4,810. Deaths from vaginal during the same time were 1,240. It is more common in older women. In the UK, 254 cases of vagina cancer were identified in 2014. Deaths from vaginal cancer in this period were 110. Out of those with vaginal cancer, 53% are related to Human papilomavirus infection (HPV). There are some known causes such as age, HPV infection, social background, chronic conditions as well as unknown causes. The most common symptoms for vaginal cancer are: vagina bleeding often post-coital (bleeding following a vaginal sexual intercourse), vagina discharge, dysuria (difficult or painful discharge of urine), pelvic pain and/or pelvic mass. The reported overall 5-year survival rate for vaginal cancer is 44 %, which is poorer than that for both cervical and vulva cancer. In current oncology, survival rate is the primary target, but the analysis of the treatment complications and the quality of life is of crucial importance, particularly in cancers with indolent biology. It is difficult to establish strong, evidence-based recommendations as cancer of the vagina is such a rare disease. However, there are therapeutic options based on understanding the tumor biology and in individual treatment of the patient. Women with vagina cancer should be managed in a cancer center within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) setting. There are two primary types of vagina cancer: squamous-cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Squamous-cell carcinoma of the vagina arises from the squamous cells (epithelium) that line the vagina. This is the most common type of vaginacancer. It is found most often in women aged 60 or older. Squamous Cell Carcinomas comprise 67–80 % of vagina cancers. In contrast to cervical SCC, many vagina SCCs are HPV negative. HPV has been found in 50–80 % of primary vagina SCCs. Vagina adenocarcinoma on the other hand arises from the glandular (secretory) cells in the lining of the vagina. Adenocarcinoma is more likely to spread to the lungs andlymph nodes. It occurs in a small percentage of women (termed "DES-Daughters") born between 1938 and 1973 (later outside the United States) that were exposed to the drug diethylstilbestrol (DES) in utero. DES was prescribed to 5 to 10 million mother’s period to prevent possible miscarriages and premature births. Typically, women develop DES-related adenocarcinoma before age 30, but increasing evidence suggests possible effects or cancers (including other forms of vaginal glandular tumors) at a later age. DES-exposure in women is also linked to various infertility and pregnancy complications. Daughters exposed to DES in utero may also have an increased risk of moderate/severe cervical squamous cell dysplasia and an increased risk of breast cancer.
Signs and Symptoms
Most vagina cancers do not cause signs or symptoms early on. When vaginal cancer does cause symptoms, they may include:
Vaginal discharge or abnormal bleeding
Unusually heavy flow of blood
Bleeding after menopause
Bleeding between periods; or any other
Bleeding that is longer than normal
Blood in the stool or urine
Frequent or urgent need to urinate
pain during sexual intercourse
a lump or growth in the vagina that can be felt
Dysuria (difficult or painful discharge of urine)
Vagina cancer may spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body, such as the lungs, liver and bones. Side effects start to develop during treatment of the abnormal growth. When the complications start, they exactly depend on the type of radiotherapy adopted and the plan of treatment. Side effects tend to get worse as treatment progresses and can continue after your treatment ends. But they usually begin to improve after 1 or 2 weeks. Everyone is different and the side effects vary from person to person. Various complications include Diarrhoea, discomfort passing urine, skin soreness, feeling or being sick, fatigue. Most side effects gradually go away in the weeks or months after treatment. But some side effects can continue or might start some months or years later. Some changes can be particularly difficult to cope with. Long term complications might include changes in the ovaries, vaginal changes, and changes in pelvic bones, bladder or bowel changes, leg and groin swelling.
The best way a woman can reduce her risk factor for developing vagina cancer is to try to avoid being infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), an extremely common sexually transmitted virus. In fact, about 80 percent of sexually active men and women are infected with HPV at some point in their life. HPV can cause many types of cancer, including cervical cancer. Researchers believe there may be a link between vagina cancer and HPV. Other factors that can help prevent vagina cancer include:
Early sexual activity or intercourse should be avoided by younger children.
Avoiding sexual intercourse with multiple partners.
Practicing safe sex (although condoms cannot fully protect against HPV).
Having regular Pap tests to find and treat precancerous conditions.
Stopping smoking, or not starting in the first place.
Reduce sugar intake
Adopt water therapy by drinking warm water with lime; don't eat until 45 minutes later.
Reduce alcohol consumption
Regular medical check up
Eat fruit that are rich in vitamin B17 e.g water melon, Mango, sharp sharp e.t.c
Maintain healthy weight
Be physically active or engage in physical exercise
WOMEN’S FITNESS & HEALTH ISSUES
You May Be Suffering From Hormonal Imbalance
It began as some minor bloating the day before my menstrual period started. Then came the headaches. Finally, a few days of minor discomfort turned into something that I had to plan my schedule around because of my symptoms.
I was not alone. Jane* suffered from backaches and headaches so severe that she had to take off from work. Susan developed cravings for sugary and salty foods and began having breakthrough bleeding and bleeding mid-cycle. These symptoms have been classified as PMS - premenstrual syndrome. Frequently dismissed by doctors as “normal” hormonal fluctuations and scoffed at on bumper stickers and advertisements; PMS has become widely accepted.
In an era where woman strive to break through the “glass ceiling” and assert their position alongside their male coworkers, demonstrating a weakness linked to their gender is taboo. So women have suffered in silence when they have been unable to convince anyone that their symptoms may not be “normal”.
I was one of those people. For years, I was dismissed by doctors while my symptoms increased. Unable to find the answers I was seeking, I finally stopped asking and accepted my fate. That was until I started going to Dr. Daniel Bies, a wellness practitioner of chiropractic, acupuncture and nutrition. While treating me for an unrelenting low backache, he asked me if I experienced headaches before the onset of my period.
Understanding the Results of a Hormonal Imbalance
Suspecting estrogen dominance, he suggested I take a diagnostic test to measure my hormone levels throughout my cycle.
An average cycle consists of 28 days, starting with approximately 4 days of menses - blood flow - during which time the hormone estrogen builds up in the woman’s body. It peaks mid-cycle, triggering ovulation, when an egg is released.
Progesterone, another hormone, starts increasing as the uterine lining builds up and the cervix becomes more receptive to fertilization. If the egg is not fertilized, the lining breaks down as estrogen decreases in the body. The delicate coordination of these hormones is controlled by another chemical, DHEA.
All three of these, along with minor doses of testosterone must be in perfect balance. Upsetting that balance can cause numerous symptoms, including bloating and weight gain, headaches, backaches, mild to severe cramping, cravings for salty or sweet foods, sensitivity to temperature, allergy flare-ups and numerous other symptoms. Not all women will experience the full range of symptoms and some may be milder or more severe than others.
Because of the ambiguity of the symptoms, the age in which these symptoms present themselves, and the degree to which they are felt varies widely, it has been difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. But since Bies and his wife, Erin, (also a nutritionist) attended seminars on estrogen dominance and began treating patients for it, the results have been amazing. In my own case, I took a natural vitamin formula made by a medical laboratory and sold only to physicians, to flush out the excess estrogen.
Then in the second half of my cycle, I used a natural progesterone cream made from wild yam extract, which I applied to my skin. This was to supplement the lower than normal levels my own body was making. Finally, I took a DHEA supplement to make up for the shortage of DHEA in my body so my hormones could become regulated again.
Treating Hormonal Imbalance
I was astounded by the difference it made. The headaches, cramping and bloating disappeared my first cycle after using these products. Each month thereafter, the symptoms remained blessedly non-existent. The most convincing evidence for me was when I took a trip to Italy for two weeks. The trip would overlap with the second half of my cycle, so I packed the progesterone cream with me. I left the DHEA home because I was concerned about the effects that temperature changes during travel may have on the fragile capsules.
With the excitement over travel and my time schedule thrown off, I neglected to use the cream until I got home. That month, my symptoms returned. The following month, I was back on the program again - and voila! - my symptoms again disappeared.
My story is far from unique. Dr. John Lee, who has written a score of books including What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Perimenopause, has documented the same results in scores of women.
Oral contraceptives and genetics may play a role as possible causes of hormone imbalance. What really amazed me was that estrogen dominance could also mimic hyperthyroidism, a disease more common in women. For years, I had all the symptoms of this disease - and since thyroid disorder runs in my family - I was extensively tested. Blood work, CAT scans, radioactive isotope testing - you name it - I was tested with it. But all the tests came back negative.
My symptoms were considered classic hypothyroidism - weight gain, constant fatigue, dry skin and eyes and a strong sensitivity to cold. Other diseases that produce some of these symptoms - iron deficiency anemia, Epstein Barr, Lyme disease, etc. were also ruled out. But upon taking the progesterone cream and DHEA, my hypothyroidism-like symptoms also dropped off.
The changes were obvious to those around me as well - I wasn’t wearing layers of clothes in well air-conditioned rooms and I had more energy.
Jane and Susan also reported similar findings. Jane was able to maintain a normal work schedule and even received a promotion because she was more dependable and productive at work. Susan lost weight when her food cravings diminished and she was finally able to stick to a sensible weight loss plan without her efforts being sabotaged by her cycle.
More and more people are discovering - and demanding - natural health treatments. But like their synthetic counterparts - being “natural” does not mean without side effects. Those who have jumped on the health food craze have discovered that any chemicals - manmade or occurring in nature - can alter the delicate chemical balance of our bodies. In some cases, this is beneficial - when an imbalance is corrected or a deficiency is addressed. But one must always proceed with caution - reading labels, becoming informed, and staying under the advice of a medical doctor. Herbs and vitamins can also cause or aggravate existing conditions such as hypertension, heart disease and diabetes.
The best advocate for your health is you. You know your body better than anyone and when you recognize that you feel different from before - your energy levels have dropped, you have a pain that won’t subside - ask questions. Keep a diary and become observant. Are you working longer or different hours that may be causing the fatigue? Have you recently been sick - or developed a rash, been bit by a tick?
The more knowledgeable you are about your condition - when it started, what makes it worse, what improves it if anything, how long does it last, etc., the better able you will be to provide your doctor with the clues he needs. And if you do not feel your doctor is taking you seriously or listening to your complaints, don’t be afraid to seek a second - or third or fourth - opinion.
You can also investigate your symptoms on the Internet - it can literally put a whole world of research at your fingertips. But again, proceed with caution. Check the references of who is posting the information. Anyone can put up a website and blurt out information. Investigate as many different sites as you can - so you are pulling from a wide source of information and not just a few limited viewpoints.
You may even consider posting your symptoms on an on-line bulletin board. Often you can do this anonymously by creating a sign-in name, and see what responses you get. You may just hear from someone who has experienced similar symptoms and find out what worked and what didn’t.
You may hear from sources from the other side of the world or in your own backyard. My mother went to a new doctor for a second opinion, but the recommended treatment was very different than originally suggested. She felt very confident with the second doctor and what he said, but she had been going to her original doctor for years and hesitated to question his treatment.
So she hopped on the Internet and found a news article on his practice - not a paid advertisement - and one of the women quoted in the article lived nearby. She contacted the woman by phone and she told my mother that she had been very satisfied with his treatment. My mother opted to go with the second doctor and had excellent results.
It’s your body, and ultimately only you can keep it running right. You need to take charge of your symptoms and whether it’s a hormonal imbalance or something else - you have to decide what treatment and methods you are willing to accept or reject.
Fayose’s N2.2bn Fraud Trial Stalled Over Witness Absence
The N2.2bn fraud trial of a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and a firm, Spotless Investment Limited, was stalled on Monday over the inability of the prosecution to bring its witness to court, a report by PUNCH said.
The prosecuting counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), told Justice C.J. Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos that a relative of the witness scheduled to come had been admitted into a COVID-19 isolation centre.
Jacobs urged the judge to consequently adjourn the case.
The defence counsel, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), said he had no objection to the request for an adjournment.
Justice Aneke adjourned the matter until October 20, 2020.
In the charges, the EFCC alleged, among other things that Fayose, on June 17, 2014, “Took possession of the sum of N1, 219, 000,000 to fund your 2014 gubernatorial campaign in Ekiti State, which you reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit: criminal breach of trust/stealing.”
The ex-governor was also alleged to have on the same day “received a cash payment of $5,000,000 from Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the then Minister of State for Defence, which sum exceeded the amount authorised by law and you thereby committed an offence contrary to sections 1 and 16(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and punishable under Section 16 (2)(b) of the same Act”.
The EFCC also alleged that Fayose purchased a property known as No.44, Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, for N200m in the name of “your elder sister, Mrs Moji Oladeji.”
But Fayose and Spotless Investment Limited pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ekiti APC crisis: I’m not an enemy to anyone – Governor Fayemi
Indications emerged in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, at the weekend that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced moves to end its internal wrangling in the state chapter of the party.
The decision to resolve all grievances was reached at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting held at the state capital and attended by the Governor Kayode Fayemi, his deputy, all elected party officials as well party representatives from the 16 local government areas of the state.
Governor Fayemi, in his remark at the event, gave the message of hope by reassuring the stakeholders that the crises rocking the party were summountable.
The governor spoke after he got a confidence vote from the stakeholders who expressed satisfaction on the pace of infrastructural development in the State.
Fayemi described the recent political crisis in the party as “family affairs”, stressing that he held no grudge with any party member or caucus.
The governor acknowledged that upheavals are not unexpected in a political setting but expressed confidence that his administration has the capability to manage whatever disagreement that may arise.
“Whatever disagreement we have in Ekiti APC is a family affair. I’m not an enemy to anyone and neither is anyone an enemy to me,” Fayemi maintained.
A communique made available to journalists by the Public Relations of the party, Ade Ajayi, said an adhoc committee would be constituted to address all grievances and make recommendations to the party.
The stakeholders also resolved to abide by the party’s mandate that in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that all matters in court against the party at all levels should be withdrawn with immediate effect.
The Party also resolved as follows: “And the code of conduct for all political appointees and elected officials should be strictly adhered to.
“That forthwith, no negative story should be sponsored against the party in the media. Such action by any member shall be viewed as anti-party.
“A vote of confidence was passed on Governor John Kayode Fayemi after a review of the many projects carried out by his administration, which include many road projects, water project, renovation of primary and secondary schools, sinking of boreholes across the schools, infrastructure development, airport project and other life-touching activities, which include his giant stride in agriculture, health, social investment, attraction of investments, both foreign and national, and making Ekiti proud as the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum as well as playing a leadership role at the national level,” the communique reads in part.
Recall that the Fayemi’s administration came under attack when about 15 chieftains of the Party sought the dissolution of the State Working Committee on the claim that it was not duly constituted.
Senator Femi Ojudu, Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is leading the attack against Fayemi had claimed that the governor underperformed.
The Stakeholders’ Caucus comprises the Governor, Deputy Governor, all the Party Excos, former governors, national and state assembly members (both serving and former), cabinet members, elected party chairmen, party elders’ forum and 10 representatives from each local government.
COVID-19: A Biblical Analysis of this Pestilence and the Way Forward.
A pestilence is any very serious infectious disease that spreads quickly and kills large numbers of people. It is any epidemic disease that is highly contagious, infectious, virulent and devastating.
This description undoubtedly and accurately fits the disease terrorizing the world in a time like this.
A disease that has altered greatly, several plans and intents of mankind. Many schools have been closed down, many businesses shut down, many events postponed or cancelled, many organizations disorganized, several economies have been greatly confused, many cities have been isolated, desirable properties have been left unattended. All resulting from the terror of a microscopic but catastrophic, tiny but deadly virus called coronavirus.
Renown scientists and award-winning inventors of the world have been left appalled by this malignant virus.
Nations with the best military set-up have not been able to combat this terrorist called COVID-19.
Very affluent and wealthy nations of the world have been left handicapped by this virus. Obviously, money have not been able to overpower this powerful enemy of nations neither has physical strength granted men victory over this pestilence.
Kings and rulers of the world have passionately pursued a wayout of this menace but to no avail.
Indeed, this is a perilous time. Who shall save the world?
The word pestilence is most frequently used in the prophetic books in the bible, and it occurs 43 times in the New King James Version of the Bible and it is always accompanied by the words sword, noisome or evil beasts, or war or famine.
Biblically, a pestilence or plague is usually as a result of God's divine judgement or visitation against sin of a country or nation. (Ezek.14.13-19)
A pestilence at a time like this could be a validation or fulfillment of the words of the prophecy of Jesus Christ and other biblical patriarchs as touching the signs and symptoms of the end time. So this disease is a proof that Jesus Christ truely exists and that the world would soon be wiped out (Rev. 6).
Matt.24.7 - For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
Luke.21.11 - And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
Origin of the Pestilence (Coronavirus) traceable to the Holy Bible
It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that things which were considered, decades ago to be morally degrading, culturally debasing and spiritually demeaning have become globally celebrated in this present time.
We now have a world where a transgender is more celebrated than a general overseer.
We now have a generation that even in the face of global financial crises, expends heavy amounts of money to promote immorality and ungodliness.
Stories about paedophilia ( a state of primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prebubescent children by an adult), Incest (sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other), Bestiality (sexual intercourse between a person and an animal) are becoming more frequent in our news headlines. We now have headlines such as;
Three men jailed for sex with cow, goat, nine horses and dogs
72-year-old ‘sexual predator’ accused of abusing underage boys
Seven bodies found in house after man shoots family in 'unimaginable tragedy'
Our news broadcast is now termed incomplete if it is void of stories related to violence, bloodshed, insurgency and terrorism.
A world where most success driven minds are now compelled to be immodestly and sexually appealing with their products and contents for them to be really "successful." (If your post on media is devoid of sexual contents, you are likely to have lesser patronage or followers).
Men of this generation have obviously embraced darkness and rejected light for their deeds are evil. We have often chosen Barabbas (a notorious murderer and robber) over Jesus Christ (the holy lamb of God that never sinned) (John 18:40, Mark 15:7).
Obviously, our persistent sin and rebellion against God is the root cause of this pestilence called Coronavirus.
This conclusion is justified by the following instances; On two occasions in the Bible, God destroyed 14,700 and 24,000 people respectively with a plague for various acts of disobedience and rebellion (Numbers 16:42-49 and 25:1-9)
Ezek.14.13 (NIV) - "Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its men and their animals,
Ezek.14.19(NKJV)- "Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out My fury on it in blood, and cut off from it man and beast,
Ezek.14.20 - as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in it, they could save neither son nor daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.
Jer.34.17(NIV) - "Therefore, this is what the LORD says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom for your fellow countrymen. So I now proclaim 'freedom' for you, declares the LORD -'freedom' to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.
What should we do? (The Way Forward)
The safest places on earth are not necessarily places with the best military set-up or best asylum they are merely places devoid of threats to safety. Those places are safe not because they are proficient and anticipatory in handling threats to security and safety. They are rather safe because they are relatively lacking in constituent factors of security vulnerabilities. Therefore, it is better to get rid of or exterminate Coronavirus by dealing with it's root causes than just adopting measures to mitigate, control or manage this lethal menace. Deal with sin and satan (stealer, destroyer and killer) will be gone for good.
Therefore, all and sundry should carefully consider the following;
1. Global repentance from sin and reverent acknowledgement of the sovereignty of the almighty God (Jonah 3:1-9, Romans 1:28-32)
Jonah.3.5 - So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.
Jonah.3.10 - Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.
2. A collective effort of humble prayers unto the Almighty God (IIChronicles 7:13-14)
2Chr.7.14 - if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
3. Absolute trust in God for protection against Coronavirus even while we try to be precautionary (Psalms 127:1, 91:1-4, Jeremiah 17:5) ~ Ps.127.1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.*
4. Faith in and plea for the blood of the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) that takes away the sin of the whole world (Exodus 12:13, Revelation 7:14, 12:11) ~ Exod.12.13 - Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
5. Individual acceptance of the Lordship and Saviourship of Jesus Christ because He is the ressurection and the life, He is also the door of His sheep. (John 11:25, Luke 10:19) ~ John.11.25 - Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
John.11.26 - And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
John.10.7 - Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John.10.9 - I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
In times like these you need a saviour,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the solid rock
This rock is Jesus, yes He's the one,
This rock is Jesus, the only one,
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the solid rock, (Adv. Hymn No. 593, Stanza 1)
The life of the Nigerian Youth is a big contrast from other young people in Europe,The United States and even some other
African Nations. The average Nigerian is raised up to be hardworking, but the faulty sociopolitical structure frustrates every effort to be industrious and innovative.
The Majority of the Nigerian populace are living way below a average standard of living. This is a Nation endowed with vibrant, intelligent young people who possess very rare and distinct potentials
Africa is a well endowed continent,it is rich in unique cultural diversities. The Nation's of Africa have been able to birth vibrant, intelligent and passionate people Africa inspite of several individual efforts is still tagged as a third world continent .The time has come for Africa to realize and nurture the hidden resources trapped in the human mind.Though the Nation's of Africa are thoroughly endowed with exotic natural resources, there is still a high rate of poverty among the people. There are great potentials in Africa, but the harsh atmosphere is limiting creativity and innovation.
